What is the Mentorship?
The mentorship is simple, it isn’t only about painting and design, but also how to KEEP painting and designing. Help you overcome personal hurdles to achieve the goals you have in your mind.
Our philosophy is that talent is EARNED, not given. With that baseline we use tools to train our aspiring students how to maintain confidence with their work and how to maintain progress even on the most unmotivated or uninspired days.
Our mission is to give you all the knowledge and skill you need that will help propel you into your career!
*After purchasing a seat, we will put you on the class roster for the upcoming course. If you don't hear from of us please email us at robotpencil.info@gmail.com with proof of purchase to be sure you are on the roster. Thanks and we will see you in class.*
MORE INFO:
Lesson Videos will help you get started in the class. It is a great introduction to many topics and you can decide on which path you'd like to choose before the live class officially starts the following week.
Live Classes are meant to help review and talk over any problems and concerns. I take a personal approach to giving people their homework and improving points so that they can go at their own pace.
Paint Over Critiques allow a more visual example on where they made mistakes that they can not see. I may not always paint over but also provide relevant or useful reference for them to use to help them progress.
Guided Tutorials are perfect for after class learning. I made these videos to help point people to a digestible and slow paced example of a fundamental problem without me stopping every live class with long form demos. Example: Anatomy or Design Principles.
Q&A's are my bread and butter and are a great way to help answer questions people wish they could ask in a more personal setting. You can ask any sort of question that is respectable and reasonable!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW IS THE MENTOR-SHIP RUN?
In the mentor-ship we meet up 1 time a week online via Zoom application . You will need a Skype account in order to be invited to the group chat where certain announcements and updates will be made . We provide you with a private link each session and we meet as a whole and provide feedback/critique students work . We provide lecture videos for you to watch each week to help you along with the class.
DOES IT MATTER IF I HAVE A MAC OR PC / LAPTOP ?
It does not matter what kind of computer you are using . As long as it has a decent internet connection and it can run a digital painting program like Photoshop !
I HAVE PURCHASED A CLASS BUT REALIZED I CAN NO LONGER PARTICIPATE , CAN I GET A REFUND?
You will have exactly 7 days from your purchase to inquire about a refund. After that unfortunately we no longer can do so . However , you can save your purchase for a later class date. Meaning that if you bought a class and you no longer can take it , you can use it as class credit and take the class later on down the line. We understand sometimes purchasing such things can be a big decision and we encourage you talk to us before purchasing a class if you are unsure . That way we can assist you to make the best decision for yourself , even if it isn't with us .
WHAT PROGRAMS ARE NEEDED FOR THE MENTOR-SHIP?
Students are welcome to use any programs they feel to get the assignments done . However, feedback and critiques will be done in Photoshop and various 3-D Packages. Only thing that is required is a decent internet connection in order to meet for class sessions.
WHAT IF I MISS CLASS , OR I AM LATE , OR MY INTERNET EXPLODES 0_0 ?!!
Here at Robotpencil we live by the code , " art is easy , life is hard " . With that said we realize that life can happen in the most unexpected ways . Luckily all class sessions are recorded and uploaded to a private playlist that only students can access. So as long as you can turn in your homework , you can watch the feedback at a later time as well as come back to each class recording in case you forgot something.
WHAT LEVEL OF SKILL IS REQUIRED FOR THE MENTOR-SHIP PROGRAM ?
All Levels are accepted in mentor-ship program. Because we do not give the same assignment to everyone we work each student at their current pace and skill level . Basic knowledge of Photoshop and digital painting is the biggest thing we recommend students have , knowledge of any 3-D Package is always a plus too.
